The
USPS has issued new regulations regarding all Folded Self Mailers
(FSM - bifolds, trifolds etc). Anything not in an envelope will be
affected
The changes aren't mandatory until
January 5 of 2013
Previously only BOOKLETS were affected.
The use of perforated tabs of any kind is being
eliminated.
The minimum sized tab will be 1" - this will effectively
eliminate the use of 3/4" and 15/16" tabs currently in use.
Tab placement my change depending on mailing piece design
As a mailer you need to plan future purchases
and take into consideration how this change will affect the use of
clear tabs. Without a perf, clear tabs are very
difficult to open without tearing the mailing piece. Translucent tabs are the obvious next best choice.
